While growing up in Olympia, Rachel quickly became fond of Washington’s great outdoors — whether it be a city park or a backcountry ridgeline. After college, she dabbled in environmental education before landing a career in the outdoor recreation field. Rachel worked alongside the communications team at Washington Trails Association for the last 6 years and recently transitioned onto the Department of Ecology’s Shorelands and Environmental Assistance team where she helps support the Washington Conservation Corps program. When she’s not out backpacking, Rachel can often be found knitting, playing video games, or throwing discs for her dog Melba.
